Common questions

Why can't I read someone's story?
Stories, comments and questions open only after you photograph the same spot and the match is confirmed. Until then you see the photo and the place name.

How does matching work?
The app compares your photo with photos of the same place. It does not use your contacts or your location history. Location, if you allow it, only helps narrow down the place.

Who can see my precise location?
Nobody. Our server never sends your coordinates to other users; other people see a place name at most.

How do I make something private again?
Open the memory → visibility → Private. It leaves Discover immediately and the spot discussion is closed to you.

How do I report or block someone?
Every story, comment and help post has a menu with Report and Block. Reports are reviewed by a person, usually within 24 hours.

Are the photos I take saved to my Photos?
Yes, at full quality with when and where they were taken, unless you turn it off in Settings → Save Originals to Photos. The copy uploaded to Vistale is a smaller version whose file carries no location data.

How do I export my data?
Settings → Export & Backup. You get your stories and index as a file, and can save photos to your library.

How do I delete my account?
Settings → Account → Delete Account. This removes your content, sessions and Sign in with Apple authorization. If you signed in more than 10 minutes ago, sign out and sign in again first. You can also email us to request deletion.

I use the app without an account. Where is my data?
Only on your phone. Deleting the app deletes it, so export a backup first.
